CAT QUESTION

I have a 95 F150 with the 2 cats on it. My 2nd cat is shot dead. it rattles really badly. My question is has anyone ever heard of cutting the cat and running a straight pipe through it then putting the shell back on? it is illegal here in texas and nobody will do it. I want my 6 to be louder and I already have a glasspack with dual turndowns. Help me out!

CAT QUESTION

remove the glass pack muffler and run the exhaust through the cat only. i can't speak for texas but here in nc a muffler shop can get into some real trouble monkeying with the cats.

CAT QUESTION

I cut mine out and just put a straight 3" pipe in it's place. What's rattling is probably the shield on the outside. You can weld or bolt that on somehow but I think you're best option would be to cut the cat out and hollow it out. It won't sound AS good as just a straight pipe, but you won't notice much of a difference tone wise between straight pipe and hollowed cat. It'll be much louder too, the cat muffles quite a bit.

Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .

Thats it for now, saving for a stang. Check out my Gallery for a look-see.

CAT QUESTION

The material inside the cat is brittle. Take it off and drive a iron rod through it and knock it all out. Forget about welding in a pipe it's not neccessary. Just make sure you get it all out, you don't want it stuck in the pipe down the line.

Technically speaking, I think that's about a 10,000 dollar Max. fine from the E.P.A. for the shop and one for the guy doing the exhaust work also. At least that's what the exhaust guys around here have told me. I can see why they'd not want to do it. Your ticket ain't gonna cover a 20,000 dollar fine.

CAT QUESTION

OK I cut everything off right after the 2nd cat. And then put a turndown right after the cat. It sounds ok, but not what I was expecting. I think I am going to hallow out the 2nd cat now since I have easy access to it. I looked in it the other day and there is like a white piece of plastic or something that is in it.Do I just knock it out or what? Well any other tips?

CAT QUESTION

It's not plastic. More like ceramic. Should crunch up real nice if you use a hammer to knock a metal rod through it. Then move it side to side to break it all out.
