np208 not enguaging

np208 not enguaging
the 208 in my 86 decides when it wasnts to go into 4wheel on its own time, pull the lever back and it feels good but no 4wheel then it might clunk in after messin with it for a while, pull it back into 4low and its in low range but still now in 4wheel. any ideas? bent fork, worn plastic clips on the forks?
