Ok here's the issue now, I let the truck sit since friday night and I went out and started it while I was snowblowing, now here's the wierdest part. I ran to the corner store and the truck had no power what so ever. When I got it to spool up the turbo the truck shook and made a wierd vibration and belched a hell of a lot of white smoke. It feels like I got a dead hole or something.. Need advice Jack
this all started this morning after I let it run for 20 min or so. I also just tried to drive it and its still doing the same crap. I really need the help here wtih this
Try to unplug the EBPV, the plug on the passenger side turbo. Also, if it is snowing plug your truck in at night. White smoke means unburned fuel, and to warm the motor up the ebpv stays shut. Unplug it for the first step.
the EBPV is already unplugged, cant plug it in block heater plug got removed my a car that tried to drive under my truck in the snow. starts just fine just is totally gutless today. It has new gp's and gpr, new batts , new ff, new fp fresh oil chg, no CEL
how cold is it there???I have had fuel gel on me twice this year.....forgot to put additive in and had the same symptoms.....except I ended up on the side of the road
Ron has a very good point, a guy here in florida had his lines ice up and was like that. But yes, you can check your injectors. Most enhanced computer scanners can run what is called a buzz test or cylinder contribution test. Fires solenoids one by one with the truck off and the weaker ones are on the change side. Check your oil, does it have fuel in it? Thats one way to tell if the injector o-rings are bad.
Havent noticed if the oil smells like fuel I dont have a scanner to do the buzz test just trying to trouble shoot before taking to a shop and spending 80.00 for them to tell me whats wrong with it
Well since youre in MI I cant help you with the scan. But I'm sure you can find someone on here thats in MI with a scanner that can help you out. Now an easy way to tell if fuel is gettin in oil is to check the oil level. If it raises from day to day you have a leak.
I just checked the oil again and no change, its stays pretty consistant usually about 1/2 low due to oil cooler leak other than that I'm gonna take to my buddys shop in the morning and hit it with the scanner and see how much more money needs to be put in the POS. I just put 1600 in to it around thanksgiving and money is getting short here along with putting more money into it then the truck is worth... Sorry just ranting, any other ideas besides a rag in the gas tank and a lighter?
Sorry to tell you but diesel wont explode like that lol. Umm I remember you posting on here awhile back about selling it. Still cant? It could be a multitude of things, injectors dont sound like one. What color is the smoke? I mean it could be a clogged cat to bad rings. Low compression will definitely do that to a diesel especially if all the other stuff has been taken care of or checked.
Mine did that this morning and the other day. Temps were about 25 to 30 degrees F. I think I got a bad batch of fuel. After I drive a little it straightens it self out. It just acts up when the motor is cold. It doesn't throw a cel. That's why I'm thinkin' bad batch of fuel.
well I have no cat, the color of smoke is blue white. The reason that I was thinking that my injectors may be the issue because thats the only componet in the fuel system that I havent replaced yet. when I get into the throttle at about 2500 the truck stubles and pretty much acts like a gasser with a bad plug then It will go to 3200 fine then when you let off its a real rough lopey idle like it has a huge cam.. sorry for the long post. all help is appreciated, Jack
Well blue smoke is oil and injectors arent really prone to just going bad, especially overnight. How many miles does the truck have? Rough idle, blue/white smoke, and lack of power can all mean low compression. I would take it to your friends shop and run a compression test. that will tell you a lot.
