4x4 5 spd stuck in low range

Ok, so I was trying out the 4 wheel drive, dang, it's LOW in low range.... But it was tough to get the lever into low, I really had to jerk it. And now I wanted to hit the road in it and it will not go back into high. It was moving from 2h to 4h really well, but the trip through neutral isnt happening. I have tried it with hubs locked, unlocked and reverse etc. Any hints? Thanks in advance.
ps. the red truck in my other post is a 40 1 1/2 ton which i put a 302 in and later sold. My old ford now is a 53 f 350 pickup with an 9' box. It was owned by a crop duster in Minot, North Dakota. My son's gonna help me with photos tomorrow and I will post some up. I also have a couple other heavy fords...Any help on this transfer case lever is much appreciated.

Try pushing DOWN on the shift lever while pulling it back-and-forth.

If you read the cap on the **** it probably says Push Down", if that's not it someone might have put the linkage on wrong.

Try doing some lubrication on the linkage under the truck..... also check to see the linkage is not out of place possibly.

The best thing I ever did to mine was get underneath the truck and unbolt the shifter handle, take transfer case linkage loose, and take the hole shifter off the trans adapter. They have a piece in the shifter that rocks back and forth with a little rubber bumper, and that thing rusts and freezes up.

Thanks soooo much. Yeah, all I had to do was push down. Kinda like getting a volkswagen bug into reverse ..... I spent ALL day getting this thing ready to tow. I'm towing my '29 modelAA 1 1/2 ton off island to it's new home in British Columbia. I'm selling my '02 7.3 super duty and gonna use this '92 as my towing vehicle. I don't tow enoug to justify owning the '02 in this crappy economy. Besides, I like this '92 way better.

I knew that was the problem because I posted about the same thing about 7-8 months ago.
Somebody on here told me the "secret" that's written right on the shifter lever that I never read.

Now when the next guy posts about the same thing 6 months from now it's your turn to pass along the info! LOL!

Remember, the wife/dispatcher demanded he get back to work.

That is a bad combination, wife/dispatcher.
