How often do these things fail. Have I just got myself into a money pit or what. All I hear is great things about these things. Be honest
I have replace one coil on plug in 103,000 miles and it was due to the leaking heater hose issue. Otherwise this has been a very reliable truck if you keep up on your preventive maintenance.
I have 70,000 miles on mine and started having a misfire. Not sure if it was the plug or coils so I just replace everything. 8 new motorcraft plugs = $24 and 8 new ignition coils = $85 for $110 total. Cant beat that when the dealer would charge you around $800 for all that. Got my coils from Uneek on ebay for $75 + $10 shipping. Global sells them on Ebay as well but they have some bad reviews going around the internet about there warranty. They do not respond. Uneek has very high feedback and I had no problems. All coils work good. Here is the link to the coils I got.
Also, dont ever power wash your engine. I had two coils go out in the past after doing that due to the coils getting wet and water getting into the plug holes. That was before I was smart enough to know how these engines worked. You may get by with it a few times but it will catch up to you.
