I like my truck , but not as a lawn ornament . I have the 1997 f150 , 4.2L (V6). I just cheked my oil cap to find the white milky paste on it. I always have the oil changed every 3,000 miles so it's recent.
I noticed awhile back I was loseing antifreeze and could see a little on the bottom of the engine at times. When the truck was running or idleing I wasnt getting anything on the ground. I just noticed the exhaust fumes today are very heavy even when the engine is at operating temperature. It also started rough like it was only pulling on a few cylanders , but once warmed up it idles fine.
My question is" how hard is it to change the intake manifold gasket and the timing cover gasket if I were to do it on my own. Im not a mechanic, but usuly do most of my own repairs. I have never had to deal with these isues before though.
This is my Truck and it looks good, I would just like it to run as well. Any help is apreciated. Thanks Everyone
You have a nice looking truck there! With the conditions that you mention, you do need to change out the intake manifold gaskets as you are on the verge of a hydrolock situation. I would strongly suggest that you do not attempt to start or drive the truck again until the gaskets are changed. Good luck!
