Knocking noise on a 1997 f150!
I own a 1997 f 150 it has 134000 miles it runs good but now I noticed a problem, when the truck is running at 70mph and I step on the gas for that extra push to change to the fast lane my truck makes a light engine noise, any ideas what the problem is?
If I drive the truck up hill the truck will make the noise too!!
can any one tell me what to do!!!!
truck has power is just that noise!!

sounds like "pinging" or "spiking" common on an older vehicle..... when was the last time you changed the spark plugs and wires, if the plugs are burnt the timing will be off and then boom, hello ping. But if it just does it under load it's just bad gas,....

Since it is a rattle noise and only happens when you accelerate after 70 It sounds like something is vibrating or loose. The vibration of accelerating when you are already going 70 must be just enough to get this part to rattle. Hopefully someone else can help you more with this or be more specific. We had a similar problem with a work vehicle (2000 ford econo van) that would rattle at higher speeds. Took it in and found out it was a shield that had worked loose. Good luck but doesn't sound serious maybe just annoying
