the 60% is more then likely 60% off of freight. They probably have an account, and good volume, and intern get a discount, which they pass onto you. As far as your trans, what went? I got a ford reman, and talked them into putting a P/I stallion converter in, and they told me they just wouldnt warrenty the converter. The only issue I had, was the (forgive me if I get the wording wrong, I dont remember exactly, and its been a year) clip that holds the coast clutches wasnt replaced with the updated model. So I had lost the ability to downshift and slow the truck, it woudl just go to idle, in any gear other then over drive. They fixed that, and I put a BTS VB on it, and I havent had a lick of trouble with it. So Im running the same T/C, and VB as BTS, and also the 6oh cooler. Maybe thats why I havent had any trouble. I also ponied up on royal purple tranny cooler. Probably dont NEED it, but hell, you only live once.
FWIW, Brian has no levels of his trannies. One price can handle anything. To quote him: "I dare you to break it." Now, it's mechanical and there are always the one-off deal where something will go wrong but he's done good with so many PSD owners that I trust that he will stand be his work. I've read that JW can build a mean tranny so you it seems that you can't go wrong with either. But, being a BTS bubba and owner, I can tell you first hand that his unit is a great product.
He does make some slight modifications based off your truck. So, if your truck is stock, he sets it up one way. If it is a 500HP truck, he tweaks it another way. Only the calibration is different.
From what they told me, warranty is 2 yrs. That means within 2 yrs, he pays for shipping. Outside, you pay for it at his bulk rate. Either way, rebuild is free.
RebelChevy02, On my 6 hour drive home after Christmas Holidays, I stopped for fuel about 4 hours from home. I left the pump and pulled into a stall waiting for the family to come out. When we went to leave, I have no reverse. DOH!!!!! Nothing, no clicking, no engagement, nothing. Yet, I had all forward gears, good shifting, etc. Being that I had what seemed to be a 'solid' forward, I chose to attempt the 4 hours home. I made it. BUT . . . as I reached city limits and was down in speed and rolling through the RPM's, not did I still not have reverse, but I also was getting a very noticeable shudder around 1500 - 1600 rpm, plus shifting between gears was getting pretty sketchy. I had checked fluid levels and everything was up, but noted that the tranny oil was started to turn once I got to the city. Once we got home, truck hasn't moved since. I figure once I get a tranny delivered, I'll load it up in the back of the truck, and use what's left for forward to get to the shop so I can R&R the unit. Can't do it in my garage, trucks too tall.
I also figure the 60 percent off is on freight, but looking at the wording on his site, I opted for clarification anyway. :-)
At this point I am leaning BTS, just wasn't planning on dropping close to 5K USD right now, the freakin exchange rate is ridiculous considering it was on par only months ago.
It hurts having the old girl sitting there doing nothing. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.
You have any way to check codes by chance? When my tranny died, it did just the opposite. No reverse, or OD. Then the day before I took it in, unhooked the batts, and reconnected them, for some reason everything worked again, but I wasnt taking any chances. Maybe leave your trucks batts unhooked for 5 mins or so, and see what happens. I understand your frustration though. Just could be a way to get her around till then.
No updates, sorry guys. I am havinng one hell of a time justifying the price especially considering the way the dollar is right now.
I found a local shop that rebuilds A LOT of PSD tansmissions for the Hot Shot delivery guys, the guys who haul heavy loads overnight to the oil field. Anyway, they "say" they build a damn tough transmission, plus it's only $4K Canadian installed.
Well, after seriously agonizing over the dollar considering it wasn't all that long ago it was par, I decided to go the BTS route. My build is for May 20th. I am going to drop the transmission in the next couple weeks and get the truck prepped.
Just got a call from Brians Truckshop, I don't have to wait until the 20th for my build. They are starting it tomorrow!!! Damn!! Now that this is a reality, I am getting super stoked!!!
I will for sure keep you all posted as to how things turn out. Can't wait!!

Good deal. I bet you are stoked. Get that tranny out of your truck and get ready. I can't wait for mine.
Good for you. When mine goes, it's BTS no question. I already have his VB and I like the improvement. I rode in Kris' BTS trannied truck last year at Smokin' and it is a big big difference.
