I need some help finding a copy of this service bulletin. TSB 07-23-9 Issued on November 9th 2007. I've found it mentioned at numerous locations, but haven't been able to actually see a copy of the bulletin itself. My truck has been at the dealership for 3 days and they haven't a clue what to look for. I'm getting a bit frustrated!!
Thanks for your help.
I have the tsb number, I just can't find a copy of it anywhere. I've searched all over the web and have only found it one place and they want $26 for it. Would like to find it for free.
There was supposed to be a link attached to that but it didnt come through.
When I tried to re-open it I got an error message so either my kumpooder is acting funny or I no longer have access to this link. I have a whole list of them that I used to access but none of them are working right now. I dunno.
Welcome to FTE, riverrat. At the very top of this page, just under the Ford Truck Enthusiasts banner, there is a tab labled Recalls/TSBs. I have searched there under the 2008 F-350, but can't locate that number. I find 07 23 8 and 07 23 0, but not the one you requested; I'm sure the dealer could print one out for you.
Thanks for trying, I've been able to find the TSB at several sites, just haven't been able to access the full text. Don't really want to pay $26.
I just got off the phone with the dealership and they have been looking at my truck and the diesel tech is supposed to call me. I gave the service writer the TSB # and issue date. Hope that helps.
It's strange not having that truck to drive everyday. I feel kind of lost in the loaner that they gave me. Not to mention that I was supposed to haul a horse to the vet tommorrow. Doesn't look like that's going to happen.
TSB 07-23-9 is actually a TSB for the 2008 F250 with the 6.4. But it should also apply to the F350 as well. I had already looked thru the listing on this web site and couldn't find it. I found it at several others, but could not access a full text version. Thanks for your help.

FORD 2008 F-Super Duty
ISSUE:
Some 2008 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.4L diesel may experience a belt chirp when initially started following a cold soak.
ACTION:
Replace the idler pulley following Workshop Manual, Section 303-05. (Figure 1)
The service manager called me last night about an email I sent to my salesman about my idler pulley. The service manager told me he would order the pulley and he knew about the TSB. Nice to know that some of them give a rip about us owners.
It is better you keep informed about your truck through FTE than to expect your service manager to keep up with all the models Ford sells. Great you have a good service manager.
I picked up my truck about a hour ago and they did the repair as noted in TSB 07-23-9. Everything seems to be running okay, I will know more in the morning when I start it up cold. When I talked to them this afternoon about how it was coming along, they told me that they had found a TSB for the problem!! Seems to me they found it after I told them about it.
I have one question concerning the PCM. When they did the repair, they unhooked the battery(I know because I had to reset the clock). While driving it home, it seemed that the shift points were just a little off. Did the PCM lose some of it's memory? Will it have to relearn my driving habits?
No, they did not do the new reflash. I didn't mention it and they didn't either.
But my letter from Ford was in the mail when I got home. Just don't know if I want to mess up what I've got.
Thanks to everyone for all you help, this forum has been great. I've learned a lot just reading what everybody has to say.
Your truck TCM will have to relearn the shifting patterns. A few miles of driving will fix that.
I have had the latest reflash 08B07 done and very pleased with it. It has 9 changes to your PCM/TCM/IC so is worthwhile doing it. It includes the updates to your TCM which will change the resume function during cruise control operation.
I have been trying to get this issue resolved on my Job 1 250 with no luck after a few attempts.
They have replaced the idler pulley as stated in teh TSB, and I forget what they tried the other 3 times that I've brought the truck in to get fixed. No luck at all yet though.
From my understanding, the noise is a nuisance, and has no long term affect on truck performance, but for a vehicle that costs (for some) upwards of $50k I don't want to be hearing a bunch of squealing when it's first started in the cold.
Thoughts?
Has anyone actually taken their truck in to the shop and had this problem repaired successfully, or does the squeak continue?

Reason: Edited because I forgot the last question on there.
So far mine has not had the chirping return. Started normal this morning and then again this afternoon, after sitting all day. The truck still runs the same, still getting the same mpg. The next couple of days might tell me more, it's supposed to get really cold here. My truck is always garaged at night, but sits out all day while I'm at work. So far I'm happy with the repair, just not how long it took to get it done.
