What is the best exhaust set up for the 300. I will be using a clifford split manifold header. I don't want the truck to sound like an airplane but still want it to be fairly loud and as throaty as a six-banger can get. Is it best to run duals off of each collector on the header? Or is it better to run them together in a single system? Or am I better off with a single-outlet header? And what muffler sounds the best with this engine? Should I go with glasspacks? Or a performance muffler from Gibson or Flowmaster ect..?

Depends on how loud you want it to be. I ran a true dual exhaust on my brother's 88 F150 300 4speed 4wd. Straight 2 1/2" from the factory dual exhaust manifolds, definately loud!! Too loud for me, ended up putting on two afterburner mufflers to dim the resonation. Still throaty though.
