Shangri La

Hello all!

Nearly a year ago I made a thread about going in for my job interview. Anyway here's a short vid of where I work now. Obviously this isn't of the whole place, the camera isn't big enough.
Please note because of Hurricane Ike the garden isn't a fraction of how beautiful it normally is. Not all the plants are planted yet.

I do more than secure Shangri La, I guard other parts of the Foundation but I'm mainly posted at Shangri La.

What's up Grumpy?
I get to ride around because we're closed for now. Working with the public and no stress?

Ha ha!

A Botanical Garden based off of the book, "Shangri La". We have recieved the Leed Platinum award for being Green. We use a lot of recylced materials and solar panels where possible. I hope you can see the Roman Water Wall.. The camera quality isn't so good.

Edit: This Garden is more than 50 years old. We just reopened eight months or so ago on the anniversary Shangri La closed down. You are getting to see for free what would normally cost you a minimum of six dollars to get in.

Again, what you are getting to see is very small.

Pretty cool.

Kind of, sort of, somewhat, reminds me of Golden Gate Park.

Talking

Sounds great. You know with the economic predictions very bad having a cushy job you like with the state benefits and job security is something millions of people would be happy to have. All you got to do is kiss *** and dont make trouble and that can even lead to promotions.....Good luck ( this poster is a retired STATE DOT WORKER)

Thanks for the comment sierraben. Shangri La isn't very large. I've never seen Golden Gare Park but I'm sure it's big. Shangri La is more of a historical thing for our community. It's small time compared to other Botanical Gardens, but it does have the elite of every field.

I know what you're saying. For months I was stressed out about finding a job. I'm very grateful to have a solid job. It's not state job though. It is simply The Stark Foundation. They pretty much own our city so I feel confident I'm going to have a solid job for a long while.

Not much better feeling than a steady income, eh?

I'm right here.
You aught to checkout Bouchard Gardens in Victoria, Vancouver Island, B.C.
Another cool place.

Shangri La doesn't have to be large to be a 'Shangri La.

Golden Gate Park big? Naw! Though it is bigger than Central Park. But big?
It's a fair size park. Lots of history, especially during the free concert days in '68.
