When first starting, the oil press indicator, "flops" up to mid-range within 1/2 to 1 sec after initial firing. But, oil press indicator symbol, does'nt disappear
until 2-3 seconds after firing.
Where do each of these receive their input from?? Why the significant lag??
I have noticed that my oil gauge takes a half sec or less to flip up when started, don't know if that normal, what kind of oil are you running. Thicker oil might make a difference vs thine oil.

CHeck signature. 01's don't have tran temp gage. I do have a tranny temp gauge installed tho. We're talking OIL press here and their senders.
They have to come from two different sources and I'd like to know from where.
It's still the same concept, regardless of the gauge you are talking about.
Heck, the PCM on automatics doesn't even track coolant temps at all. The coolant temp sensor goes only to the gauge on the dash, and nothing else.
As for oil temps, pressure, etc, or any other gauge..... Ford has specific ranges they consider "normal". As long as the input to the gauge or PCM registers in the "normal" range, the gauge will stay right in the middle. So again, it's nothing more than a glorified dummy light, and nothing more.
The sending unit is on the HPOP reservoir the light is delayed because of the fact that the PCM has to read that the pressure is right before it shuts the oil light off.
