I have a '79 f-150 4x4 that has a big block 390 fe from a 76. I was wondering if anybody know where I can get some aftermarket headers for it. I have been looking but everything I have found is for 2wd. Also has anyone made a bullit dash and guage console out there? If so could you attach pics. I am thinking about doing this.
thanks.
i just installed the dynomax headers from summit. They are cheap and seem to work fairly well. They are not the best quality, but for the price they are good to me. I had some clearance issues with my front drive shaft, but that's because the truck is probably 10 inches higher than stock. They are very minor clearance issues as well.
I have not driven the truck since i have dropped the 390 in aside from moving it in and out of the driveway, since it had no exhaust just factory mainfolds. I just got the headers on tonight and just backed it out of the driveway, still no mufflers or exhaust. Ill test it out tomorrow but iam sure there is a power gain over the stock manifolds.
Is that why people put headers on is for a mean sound? and I saw that my exhuast pipes connect together into one pipe. If I put headers on my truck and run true duals would it get more power? I was thinking of running glass packs. I really want the truck to sound like it is hollow and mean. do cherry bombs do that?
