Reason: just got call 26k otd
I like the interior of the King Ranch a lot more and with the blue it will be more difficult to keep clean. I like the white exterior of my truck because you can just wash it and not dry it and you can't see the water spots. However if you do more driving off road the FX4 would be more up your alley. I believe the FX4 has factory skid plates where as the King Ranch doesn't.
Love my KR more of a higher class feel and richer inside look.
Love the Fx4 plainer inside, but way more 4x4 outside.
I picked Luxury over sporty this time. I also paid almost twice as much as your price 1 year ago before truck value dropped and I have no regrets.
What's wrong with white??? The FX4 would be my pick. The only thing to make it better would be white. (just kidding) I looked at a dark blue and almost got it over the white. $19,900 sounds a little high considering the market. Just my .2 cents
the KR is the best of the best for the 2006 models. The Leather is Saddle leather, and it'll have the trip computer and different dash trim. Otherwise, the FX4 Lux and Lariat/KR are the same optionwise.
I agree with gcozmo though about the pricing. The 06's are 3 model yrs old with a brand new production line that just rolled out. IMO both trucks are overpriced a few grand.
The KR leather is the bomb! But i do agree with you Tylus. This will come down to pure economics for me and the FX4 fits the bill.Even with the gray leather.
I am worried about what 3 young children will do to the KR interior.
None taken, The seats need extra care but are very durable. Any liquid will turn the area black, water will dry with no stain. You will have to condition the leather to keep from fading and keep soft. Conditoner will also get the scatches out from everyday use , and make them look new again.
I condition my seats every 1-3 months depending how bad they get.
As a side note I never saw a Fx4 luxury package just regular as per my 1st post.
26K for the KR is high...look on ebay and car trader to get some example prices...most are around 17-23K even for 07's... Take a few of these printed out as examples and tell your dealer you think his price is 4K too high because he probably only has 18K invested and head for the door (remember to remind him that an 06 just went out of the 3 year 36K warranty when it turned 09)...He'll REALLY be motivated to sell this used truck so watch him start dropping the price quick because most people aren't looking at the older trucks when you can buy a new 08 for 28K (what my co worker paid for his new 08 F150 KR)...
That ebay truck is beat, but i see your point. I was thinking 22k tops, but when you start looking at value compared to the buck, the FX4 is looking real good.
Unfortunately i put myself in a bind when my DD sold in less than a day.
I'd go FX4, but that's just me, I love the blue color. Also, I wouldn't want the maintenance of the KR leather, plus everyone I've seen the steering wheel leather has turned black - quite ugly. But the bottom line is price - if it's a dealer "asking" 19,900, you could probably start at 17k and meet somewhere in the middle.
