Bingo, but the problem is on the newer trucks (02-03 I believe) the filterminder is a sensor of sorts- it has wiring going to it and if you run without it you set off some kind of light on the dash and store a code.
I unplugged my filter minder when I put in the 6637. No hard or soft codes on my 02.

If you can't find a 4" piece of exhaust pipe, go to the hardware store and pick up a 3" PVC coupler. It has a 4" outside diameter and will work.

Thanks, I was about to use a coffee can. It's the right size too.

Chris-thanks for clearing up the filterminder issue. So why the heck did Ford hook a set of wires to it if they don't do anything?
Bob- a 3" PVC or ABS coupler will work for now, but I would get a piece of 4" exhaust tubing in the future if you can- thinner walled than the plastic = less restriction in the intake.
probably because when the filter minder trips it turns on the light on the dash, but not when you unplug it.
That's the only purpose I know about. D/P gets too high and the light comes on the dash so you'll go take a look at it.
I zip tied the IAT sensor to the main body of the master cylinder. I toyed with drilling a hole and putting it in what was left of the intake run past the battery, but it was a little too close to the belt and moving parts for my comfort level.
I used a 5/8" Forstner bit and drilled a hole in the elbow just behind the filter end of the intake tube and installed the filter minder there. I figured if I have it, I might as well use it.

Here is a crude but effective method of seeing just how that little filter minder functions. It is supposed to show you when the filter is clogged. When the filter gets clogged, it builds up "suction" within the filter housing. It makes a simple switch and turns on a "clogged filter" light (picture not words) on the instrument panel. I know it sounds gross but if you connect the plug up to the switch and simply suck on the nipple end and watch what happens. It compresses the spring and makes the switch. Look at the dash panel and you will see the light. Press on the end of the filter minder and it will release the catch and break the connection to the switch and put the light out. When I did my 6637 filter I originally installed the filter minder in the end of the filter, but the subsequent filters, I just left it out. Just a little explaination of what it does and how it works. As for the AIT, or Air Intake Temp. sensor, like everyone else mentioned, just wire tie it to the brake lines on the master cylinder. Dave.
I just found a picture of the light...it is the one just above the words "Check Gage"
