I recently bought a '94 Bronco with a stock 302 EFI. I've had good experiences in the past in other cars when installing oil-filled Accel ignition coils. Now, for the 302 that comes with a dry coil, is it worth the replacement of the OEM coil with the Accel one in terms of fuel savings and acceleration?. Thanks... I ask since the Accel coil is rather expensive down here...
The stock coil is strong enough to induce arcing between wires if they are not routed properly, so more voltage may actually hurt performance. But... the stock coils are also prone to breaking down and becomming susceptable to moisture, so if the aftermarket coil eliminates that probelm then it could be considered an upgrade.
Unless heat is an issue, there wont be any noticeable gains with an aftermarket, oil filled coil...unless you plan on running a power adder, to help prevent spark blow-out.
