Just saw the pics...and the descripition: "THIS IS A RARE 2004 FORD F-250 WITH A SPECIAL ORDERED 7.3L TURBO DIESEL ENGINE, PLATINUM EDITION PAINT JOB AS WELL" This is....by all visual indications...a 2001 Platinum Edition. In order for it to be 2004, alot of other things would have to be changed BACK to look like a 2001. 85,000 miles....sounds good. $23,000.....sounds CRAZY! That same dealer would probably offer $7,000 on a trade in right now. I think they are trying to rip someone off.
Interesting that the VIN plate is an '04. Too much 2001 era stuff to be a salvage with a 7.3 stuffed under the hood. The odometer is analog...definitely '01. As well as much of the interior and front end (grill, lights). Very fishy...
Heres a 1986 f-150 4x4 cheap, never been wrecked....or stolen...per say .......
That is what I am saying when rebuilding motorcycles I can get a new title for the title year or if it is an old bike pre 70's HD you can use an old title because only the motor had a VIN number. I think it is a rebuild but I emailed them asking some questions I seriously doubt the will reply though.
I can't add anything to this thread that hasn't been said. You guys caught all the obvious stuff: coolant color, headlight lenses, front parking lenses, analog ODO, etc. Most obviously a rebuild or a Frankentruck.
Anybody run an OASIS on the other forum?
I will reiterate, however, something's waaaaay screwy with the ad. Wonder if the dealer would like a little visit from the state inspectors?
The Vin DOES NOT match the truck! No adjustable foot pedals, no 6.0, opaque headlamps, full dark amber marker lights, 01 and older style battery clamps, old style overhead console, analog odometer, the old powerstroke badges, green coolant... The says it has the 6.0, full center console, standard overhead console w/ rail, a painted front grill, painted wheel lip moldings, side auxiliary step and lights, telescoping TT power heated lighted mirrors, textured body collored mirrors, hmmm, but it has the 60/40 folding rear seat, it says JEWELED headlamps, thats all I found.
Wow very interesting....... looks like its been wrecked or just rebuilt with two other trucks, its definatly two different trucks pieced together. It looks good though. Would be neat to see it in person, the quality looks good in the pics, hard to say what you would see in person looking close..
They didnt start puting head rest in the rear seats until 2004, which is kind of wierd that it has it, unless they owner swapped. Also all the lariats after 1999 have wood or simulated wood trim on the doors. This truck does not. It also has the 6 disk CD changer as well, which was a newer option too. No heated seats though, which most 2002 or 2003 and up models should have. I think it is some kind of salvage vehicle that somebody tried to build and replace parts from.
I clicked on one of the tumbnail pics and got a large list of pics. One of them was this underhood shot. Definately a 7.3. The VIN number in no way matches this truck. CAVEAT EMPTOR for sure.
