Dude, just cut it right off and weld on some turn downs. You can buy them from summit or jegs. As a matter of fact..... http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/web10/SePerfMuff13.html
That link SHOULD take you to where you can buy flowmaster turndowns.

Only way I know is to take it down to your friendly neighborhood exhaust shop and watch them do it on their very cool, very expensive bending machines.

if you want to hickville it (no offense intended), just cut the radius you want out of a pice of aobut 1/2" plywood, clamp it to a work desk, clamp one end of the tube to bend near on end of the radius, heat with a blowtorch, and use your body weight and some strength to bend the pipe around the form.

you might also try filling it with sand when you go to heat and bend so it doesn't krinkle

How to bend pipe

Funny you should ask this. I was just looking through my Northern Tool catalog and saw a tubing bender in there for $70. It only goes up to 2" but I bet you could get it to bend bigger.

They also have a bigger one for $170 that goes up to 3". I might get the little one for making my roll cage.

If you don't want to bend the pipe, cut a wedge out of it, bend it at the cut, and welt it together. I did whole exhaust that way.

Hey Kevin, I have that same bender from Northern Tool. It doesn't work for bending exhaust tubing, it flattens it out. It should work, however, for bending the thicker pipe used to make a roll cage. I'm going to get a piece of thick wall pipe tomorrow and try to bend that. I'll let you know how it works.

Thanks! I'd appreciate that. For $70 it's worth it even if I make just one roll cage. Do you think it would work for exhaust if you filled the pipe with sand? I might want to re-do my exhaust some day.

i highly doubt that you'll be albe to bend even sand filled thin walled tubing with one of them..... you can always buy some HSS tubing.. it's thicker then exaust, but thinner then pipe, and will bend on one of those benders, if you take your time....

I agree. Though I did use mine to press on my 9" axle bearings, along with some 3" channels. You can make bends, just not anything close to 45 degrees. If I had it to do over, I would have either gone with the three inch bender or a more expensive ($275) hydraulic bender.

I have used mine to easily straighten 1/4 steel pipe used to hold rolls of cable. So, it has its uses. Just not for extreme angles on thin wall stuff.

I've built plenty of el-cheapo systems using these parts. Best thing is they are mandrel bent for free flow.

Anyone ever used EMT pipe for their exhaust? It is normally used for wiring but comes with 90 and 45 degree bends. About the same thickness as exhaust pipe but a wole lot cheaper and can be had up to 2.25 diameter. You may even be able to bend it on those cheap benders everyone is talking about. Not sure on that.

JUst a thought!!

Post How to bend pipe

I bend exhaust pipe for a living on a BendPak machine. If you want a good exhaust system, at least one that flows, go to a reputable exhaust shop. I'm talking about a professional bender and installer. Ask to use aluminized pipe. Costs a little more, but will last a lot longer. The whole system will cost some bucks, but in the long run it will save you money not having to change the exaust as often. Don't cheapen the mufflers! In a pro exhaust system, they are the weak points. Don't buy a cheap pre-bent exhaust. They almost never fit. Good luck
