Spark plugs are NOT covered in the Premium Care pckage.
How can that be? Wouldn't that be one of the reasons for getting an ESP?

also, since i have a 6" lift on, would it be stupid to get the extra care coverage, or is a lesser one better for me since some things wont be covered anyhow?

what do you all think? i saw one online for 800.00 (6 yr, 60K miles, 100 ded). doesnt sound bad to me.....
If you get it from FordDiscountWarranty.com, which is actually a Ford Dealership in MA, they enter it into Ford's OASIS system. It may take a few days for it to get into the system. Ed, FTE/parts-guy, was kind enough to do an OASIS report for me a few after I got my paperwork. And it was in the OASIS system. I let my dealer know were I purchased my premiumCARE ESP. They were kinda pissed that another dealer out of state sold me a warranty. But that's the way it goes. Florida regulates the extended warranties and all Ford dealers charge the same thing...

I just bought a new Focus and from the same dealer. They wanted $720 for a 72/60,000 ESP. Told 'em I'll get the ESP for my new Focus at the same place I got it for my truck. Since it's the same warranty at a lower price.

As for the lift on your truck, I have no clue...

IMHO, I would only buy a Ford ESP. You can get other ones, but I hear it's a pain in the butt to get stuff approved. One of the local TV stations just did a report on one of the non-Ford extended warranty companies. The company did not cove ritems they said were covered and folks had a hard time getting repairs authorized. If you're thinking about a non Ford ESP, check the BBB in your area, your states attorney generals office to see if they have any complaints against them.

Spark plugs are considered a "disposable item". Just like brake pads and fluids.

Anyway has anyone have any past experience with the ESP, is it worth it or a waste of money. I suppose one could think of it like your insurance. You could go years without ever having a claim and then bang one day you wish you would have had it.

Of course the paperwork doesnt offer any hint as to how much its gonna cost me, other than to call or visit your selling dealer.
2005 F150 XLT Screw. I have used it for 3 window regulators, going on the 4 soon. 2 injectors, cat converter, 2 coils. Will be using it again for 1 power door lock & power seat. Paid $785. windows would have been about $300 each to repair @ dealer. Only wish I had chosen $50 deductible instead of $100.

I understand that, but what about if they break off while servicing them, or if they have to pull the heads?

I think that's something you need to ask the dealer... Besides, the plugs are due at 100,000 miles. Unless they have to change them for "some thing covered" by the ESP, you are basically out of ESP at 100,000 if you choose that mileage warranty. And since they are a disposable item, they wouldn't be covered by the ESP anyway

I've heard about dealers that cover broken plug removal, ie head removal. I hear of others that charge for removing plugs they break... So, I don't know what to tell you....

You're asking a question no one but the dealer you are taking it to can answer.

I had a dealer tell me earlier this week that even though the recommend spark plug interval is 100,000, to go ahead and change them at 25,000. This results in a lesser chance of breaking the plug off in the engine. Also, if you are changing them yourself, there is a TSB on changing the plug that, in short, suggests you go slow and lubricate the threads, then wait for lubricant to seep in, then proceed.

I'm taking mine in at 35,000 and paying the dealer $180 to replace all 8 plugs. He says if any break off they will cover it with the 3/36000 warranty. I'm also bringing in some nickel anti-seize and making them use it instead of their regular anti-seize.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I didnt think I needed to start a new thread on the subject.

Can you get the ESP after the factory warranty has expired? I just went over 36k on my 06 and was kind of interested in the ESP. I'm the second owner of the truck, if that makes a difference. Thanks!

I have Ford ESP warranties on two Fords that I have owned. WELL worth the price. I never had a problem with coverage or payment of claims. Dan.

Yes, but can you get one on a truck that is out of original factory warranty?

Go to your local ford dealer, If you get the quote online that quote is price paid in full no payments. Like my ESP is $107 a month for 17 months. Also depends on how much of a down payment you put down
