i got my DP locally for $125 and had it installed by a mechanic, cause i didnt have time. i had an exhaust shop do the cat delete, and get rid of the muffler.
As far as the chip goes, if you want to save money, pull your PCM and send it to Jody at DP Tuner. He will re-flash it to the latest programming and add a chip of your choice to the PCM, all for 80.00. You do have to pay shipping both ways tho.
they said it is a good one. same stuff a muffler is made out of. after 60 psi of fule press. truck still blows white raw diesel smoke when put to floor like its fludding out when motor gets really hot is dosent do it as bad.
I have a TW chip but I've never been able to find out what it does besides make my engine run better. Does it override the PCM? What is the interaction between the chip to the PCM?

Yes as long as its making good contact with the PCM it overrides the PCM programming and should make your truck like crazy! The Chip becomes the brains and the PCM is just the hardware with the chip installed.

So then why do we plug an additional chip into the board instead of just replacing the chip that's there? I didn't have to pull mine out to install the chip so I don't know how the factory one is attached. Anyone know why the PCMs came with the ability to plug a chip in so easily? Was there originally another use for that slot?
newest is the TDE1. a TW chip will do the same thing i think, but dealer can do it. find out what yours is. remove your parking brake, and look in there to the black cap, and there is a label that will give PCM code.
you dont have to remove the parking brake, you can see the PCM code underhood, with a little mirror in the side (IIRC passenger side?) of the PCM.
the biggest change in origonal programming and the update is cruise control function. you get no added power from the ford reprgram. not worth the money to take it to the dealer, only way i would is if you have a surge with the cruise control engaged

Joe can you explain more about that? Never heard of anything like this
there have been a few updates, i have no clue how many anymore, i used to know them all.
there was a tsb out at some point(cant recall) about surging throttle with cruise control engaged. the fix was a recal of the pcm, i dont remember the date or the pcm code that it was updated to. not all trucks surged. i still have acess to oasis, so i can look it up if you like.
