Okay, quick question, I have a 74 ford f-100, four speed manual trans,4wd, with a 390. everything pretty much stock, my question is I have a two barrel manifold, I want to add a four barrel carb, can I do this with a 4 barrel spacer or anything else out there? I just put a new motor in the thing and I really do not want to lift that damn intake again and put another intake on. If I cannot put a 4 barrel on it, what would be a good 2 barrel I could replace my rebuilt stock carb?

The "BEST" thing to do is get a good 4v intake for it! I wouldn't bother with an adapter for it. Kind of wasting your time, in my book! Otherwise leave the 2v on it. JMHO
While not the ultimate in upgrades, the adapter with a 4bbl carb DOES work, at least on a 360. It might take a lot of tuning to get it right, and the extra barrels don't do a whole lot, and if it's a vacuum secondary, you may almost never get them to open, but it does improve higher-RPM power over a stock 2bbl.
But then, almost anything is an improvement with a 360... For a 390? You're better off waiting until you have the money to get an aluminum 4bbl manifold - at least it won't be as heavy going on
What do you guys think of a 500CFM 2bbl Holley? Again, not the best overall, but it saves the guy the work of removing that anchor...

If you want performance and better gas mileage......4V intake. If you are a little lazy and dont want to pull the intake. Go with the 500 2V Holley.
Had a 500 Holley 2V on my 1968 360 in my F250 when I got it. Added duals, no change. Swapped out the 2V intake and carb for a 4V "S" manifold and a Holley 1850 600 CFM carb, a whole new engine.
The manifold came on a 360 that came in my truck, and i know 4bbl's don't come stock with 360s. I plan on putting this manifold on the 390 i put in the truck that has a 2bbl on it.
Thanks for the help.

Stock '73 heads have small ports and a large port manifold is a mismatch the wrong way. Going from small to large is OK. Going from large to small causes major disruptions in the fuel/air mixture where the manifold and port meet. Will it work? Yes. Will it work right? Not really. Better to find an "S" manifold for the later engines.
