Agree with the others than you need a different intake for a 4bbl. Right now i am running a chokeless 1.38 venturi autolite 2100, in iowa. The gas gauge does not work and i don't imagine i am setting any fuels records either.
I did a 2bbl 1.23 conversion to a 4bbl before, and its helps mid and top range a bunch. I wouldn't mess with those adapters either.
Stock '73 heads have small ports and a large port manifold is a mismatch the wrong way. Going from small to large is OK. Going from large to small causes major disruptions in the fuel/air mixture where the manifold and port meet. Will it work? Yes. Will it work right? Not really. Better to find an "S" manifold for the later engines.
Not always true! The 460 Marine engines came with SCJ intakes on plain Jane 460 heads. The intake ports where bigger then the head ports. Come to find out that it was a 20HP gain. For the FE I ran F-427 on a set of C8AE-H heads. Ports didnt line up (intake is bigger then heads). Worked well. JMHO
I have to side with Bear on this one. One because the kid is almost as old as I am and the other is because he is right. If you match the intake to the heads, with the head ports being larger than the intake ports, you will get better flow.
If you get 20 hp increase with a mismatch with the intake port being larger, then the stock intake was a really bad intake manifold.

That was with the Marine 460. NO Joke! But for the most part you guys are right. The only thing is we are all assuming what heads are on there! Assuming gets all of us no where right now. We all know when it comes to FE's that you dont know what you have until you open it up! For all we know...It could be a 410 or a 360! We need more info that we are not getting. Need the head casting #'s "PLEASE"

Yep,,, your right and as Stryder says, "FE's are like a box of chocolates". That is one of the fun things about tearing apart an FE. You might find a diamond, you just never know until you tear it down.
Talk to the Engineers for the marine division then! My uncle had a hard time with it too until he found out! JMHO
Check out the post, that I posted on.... The Guy is off Ford460.com and knows his boats. He knows that they come with CJ intakes from the factory. I've done the research on it already. You can do the same...
