I was just looking at the 6.0 stroke site a guy had some of his injectors and some sensors changed 6400.00 bucks. and the bad part was he had all the injectors changed last month. I'm sure glad mines an IDI.
Let's see......
$350 a piece for a 6.0L injector
or
$25 a piece for a 6.9 IDI injector
No brainer to me
It takes big money to go fast. All unit injectors are expensive. But they are more precise and have the potential to make ALOT more power, as well.
I was reading on another forum today that the new Cummins injector nozzles are $1800 apiece for OEM's. The total cost with labor to replace all 6 was almost $10K.
I like power as much as the next guy, but theres a limit to how much I'm willing to spend to get it. The more advanced hydraulic injectors do not impress. Way more cost than actual pay off for the extra power IMO. Fuel economy certainly doesn't seem to be much better.
Sure the parts are cheaper for an IDI, but how many repairs can be done on the side of the road as well with simpler technology? A broke down powerstroke usually needs to be towed if something goes bad enough to stall the engine.
Power isn't everything. My truck is already out living younger powerstrokes.
