Remote Start/Car alarm question

I recently had a Viper 5701 remote start alarm installed into my 02 Ex Limited 7.3, and had a question about a couple installation issues before I went back to the shop.

The alarm allows for monitoring the Wait to Start light in order to determine when to attempt to start the engine. The Installer said that my Ex uses a data bus for all the dash lights and they couldn't integrate into that so they used a time delay instead. Is this true about the data bus or is the installer just being lazy?

I noticed that when I open any of the 4 passenger doors, the alarm will go off, but if I open the liftgate no alarm activation. The dome lights come on just like when the passenger doors open, so I'm not sure whats going on there.

Those of you with shock (impact) sensors, where did you have yours mounted? Mine is close to the drivers area and even when adjusted to highest sensitivity it doesn't sense the rear of the vehicle very well unless it is a big impact (taking away the purpose of a dual-zone sensor for warn-away).

Thanks in advance for any input you might have!

Yes, I've heard that about the newer fords and wait to start.
Here is a data sheet like the installer used.

Notes:
NOTE: On DIESEL vehicles the wait to start light is activated by a databus wire from the ECM. To do wait to start use a pulse timer relay and follow directfax document #1091. *1 Without keyless entry use pink/yellow for lock and pink/lt. green for unlock. They are 5 wire reverse polarity mastered from the driver switch and found in either kick panel. With keyless entry use white/red for lock and black/white for unlock. They are negative trigger and found at the VSM. On the vehicles with keyless entry the GEM shuts down after the doors have been locked for a certain time period, to "wake-up" the system refer to directfax document #1094. *2 The VSM (Vehicle Security Module) is to the right of the accelerator pedal above the transmission hump below the radio. Not accessible from radio opening. *3 For tach go to any one of the ignition coils and use the wire that is NOT red/lt. green. On diesel vehicles the tach wire is green or white, in a 42 pin plug under the clamp on the engine side of the air intake duct. *4 Also found at the radio on vehicles that have the in-dash CD changer.
1)Basically yes, no wait to start option.
2) That's odd, most installers use the dome light wire as the door trigger. Unless the installer used 8 diodes and tapped each of the four door sensors, he would have had to use the dome light. I did the 8 diodes on my 02 F250 and it was a pain, so I doubt he did that.
3), you will need to place another sensor in the rear. I have mine set about perfect, but it rarely notices the tailgate opening or closing. You can add as many sensors as you like, and a second near the rear will let you tune it correctly.

Thanks ReAX, thats great info to know. I guess I'll have to put another shock sensor near the rear once I take care of something else that just came up (see new post on that one...)
