Fuel Filter

Ao i got bored and decided to change my fuel filter. no knowing if it needed it or not. But seems the common notion is to replace it when you can. I bought the truck 2 months ago. Any way heres a pic of the filter that came out, can you guys tell me if it was ok ? or if it was due for a change? thanks.

Which filter was it? The low-pressure one on the frame rail under the driver's side near the door or the high-pressure one on the driver's side frame rail about dead even with the front axle? Unfortunately, I can't see photobucket pictures. If it's the low-pressure one and a bunch of trash came out of the plastic holder with the filter element, then it was possibly in need. That one usually catches a lot of the garbage from the fuel tank before it hits the other filter and should be changed more often, IMO.
