a friends 97 heater must have took the trip south it blowing the breaker same plug and cord in his shop for the past 10 years, truck never sits outside. how hard is it to replace the heater? and if it is the cord can just the cord be replaced?
cord can just be replaced....if you have to change the element you will have to drain the coolant.
I seen the kit(cord/element) on ebay for about 60.00
Most times its just the plug end that goes bad. Cut it off test and if thats the issue just put a repair end on the cord. $5 fix from the hardware store.
thats what going to try is the cord end and go from there.put off a a week or two he had surgery on his right hand today can't shift it anyway i brang him my f150 to use for now as it is a auto and i have not drove it in the past two months

Dad called me today...."did some unexpected welding today.....when I unplugged my truck."
His plug end just about fell apart in his hand when he pulled the plug.I put the cheapo fix on and we are doing your mod on both trucks this weekend
