I have seen a few trucks with what looks like pipes mounted vertically to the front bumper with u bolts. Cant imagine why. A place to keep the fishing poles?

Fishing poles. Every year on my trip down to south carolina i see a couple of trucks with 10- 12 ft. Surf casting rods bending in the breeze as they drive down the highway. Looks hilarious!
