I was looking around at a classic IPod, and I read that there are different generations?!? What does this mean? What should I look for? Thanks in advanvce. Aaron
Each year or sooner they introduce a newer version with more features. originaly it was a portable music player. Now from what I see the latest version is a music player/cell phone/internet access with GPS.

thats the ipone.... i dont know about the different generations, basically i just got the newest one they had last year
this is the one i got Refurbished iPod nano 8GB - Blue - Apple Store (U.S.) except i got the 4 gig for around 200 dollars, i should of waited a year and got the 8 gig for half the price **shrugs** thats always my luck, by something with half as good for twice as much....
anyways, i would wait get the out-dated one if you dont really care as much about the design or what ever... other wise, the newer ones are all basically the same, just different case, and different price... maybe better colors or something... but i do love mine anyways.... although i am thinking about getting a refurbished ipod touch just for that wifi connection.... who knows though... got better things to buy then that...**more shurgs** last time i checked though, the zune by microsoft was a little bit cheaper, and had some better feautures then the ipod, like if you have a buddy with a zune, and your around each other, you guys can connect to each other, and listen to the other persons music i think... the only problem is, the zune actually runs on a windows operatting system, meaning it CAN get cmp viruses.....
I've got my son's old Ipod nano blue. I replaced the battery with a larger capacity one, and I was ready to go. It's not as fancy as the new ones, but it gets the job done.

Beyond the "basic" iPod line, Apple has other product lines that carry their own heritage. These would include the aforementioned Nano, Shuffle, Touch, and iPhone. The iPod itself has slowly evolved since its original 2001 release. With each successive release (generation), features are added or changed. The size--both physical dimensions & storage capability--has changed. The controls have changed between several generations as well.
It was not until the current iPod generation that the baseline iPods were tagged with the "Classic" identifier. Now, however, that "Classic" tag is being applied to older iPods...it is debatable on whether or not that is accurate.
