Turns out the black wire leading into the pump motor,The insulation was melted off and the clip was melted inside with also melted on the contact on the motor which lead to it not getting power.
Ok that alone sorta makes me go hmmmmm. to melt that insulation....on something touching gas.....
,I got some rubber hose, clamps, and bent the lines back into shape and slid the hoses on. .
fuel injection hose right? not regular fuel line hose right?
Yeah they are fuel injection hoses with a blue liner. They're goodyear brand so they should be good for a while. I hope the pump motor isn't shot....
I'm still trying to find somewhere to dump 12.5 gallons of gasoline thats close by because I don't like the idea of driving around with that fuel tank in the back of my truck.
Heres the pictures of her connector. I "Cleaned" them up with some WD-40,a rag,and flathead screwdriver. It looks like the wiring inside the pump is replacable but I can only find either the motor or the whole assembly.
The "sock" was made black, but it looked like it was covered in lint. In the morning I'll get a picture of the inside of the tank and show ya'll what this thing was sucking. When I took the wiring off,I unbolted the ground wire and it was covered in dirt, rust and other crap. Maybe it didn't get a good enough ground and with the voltage going to it,it was overloading the wire because the current couldn't leave fast enough thus getting it to hot? I don't know, just a 4:30 AM guess. I'm sick of this truck but I gotta get it running for the wife so she'll have something to drive because getting anouther vehicle is just not possible. I took it to auto-zone here (The guys there actually know there stuff.) and one of them looked at it and had the same response I did when I first seen it. I asked him if they had a replacement wiring for it and he said no but to make sure I get that back insulated because fuel and electricity shouldn't be that close together. No wire connection on this pump is insulated, just the wires.
Upon removing the tank,I snapped a bolt on the front tank strap. I got a new one but did not notice this until tonight when I went to put the new strap on. Old one is braded to a bracket on the chassis and I don't have a drillbit or extension cord long enough to drill it out. What can I do to get it out? Once its out,I plan on just using 2 nuts and bolts to re-secure it.
