What keeps the pan from comming out a crossmember? I remember reading something a long time ago about cutting and then welding it again? Did i imagine that, or is it possible? And live2wheel yes i did start off just wanting a door! I can tell that you have really looked at all the facts on this thread and i appreciate that. If i had a dime for everytime someone asks a question that was just answered a couple posts up...
If its 4x4, pretty sure the pan wont come out. Unless maybe you pull the trans back, and take off the oil pickup. I know it can be done on a gas motor, not sure about Diesel.
Some where in the early 90's they swapped from the C6 to the E4OD but I don't remember what year. The C6 did not have overdrive, so if the shifter has OD it's an E4OD.
IDI's have an injector pump which can be turned up, to some degree, to get more horses, but I have never hear of an IDI making the power of a PSD.
Bumpers should come off with no problem.
So whats the plow worth as resale?
Oil pan can be changed by lifting the motor, unbolt motor mounts, remove fan and radiator (to prevent damage), diconnect all electrical lines from the engine to body or frame, disconnect trans oil lines and linkages, diconnect drive shaft and trans mount, raise the engine and move it forward, drop the pan and take it out to the front.
I would say if you have the money, buy it and after you take what you want, part out the rest, maybe even pull the motor and sell it seperate from the rest "as is" for several hundred dollars.
Yup plowhand thats the current plan. I was gona try and make it into a sled puller but even the guys in the pre powerstroke forum were saying like 350- 400 hp. At the flywheel max, and ive pretty much already got that as it is.
P.S. It did have an overdrive and it was replaced very recently. Seems like it should be worth it.
