Hi idle question

I feel kind of dumb for asking but I've always wondered-
How long can you leave it in high idle??
Is it possible to do damage to anything if you leave it too long?

How long, don't know, I've never let one run until it broke or ran out of fuel. But unless you have a cooling failure it can run indefinately. An oil failure will shut the engine down before any damage is done. I have seen PTO equiped PSD's run for 3-4 hours on a job site.

The EBPV will stay closed (but not completely) until the oil gets warm and then open up.
