Hey Sheldon,
If you have an Acklands near you they had a flyer out before Christmas and there was 1000 amp batteries for under 100.00 cnd. The flyer was sent to canada pubilc works and other agency's. Just go in and tell them you were looking at the flyer and can you still get the batteries? They should know and you will pay on a cash account. ...hope this helps
Colin
Thanks for the tip Colin, i will check into that tooo.
Barry, how do they figure out the whole pro rated warranty crap? My truck is an 03, and I did get it used, and im wondering if i could get some sort of warranty after the 3 years replacement..
I dont even know if my batteries are totally screwed, but they are weaker then they were last year.
When I called the stealership, he basically told me i wouldnt get warranty after the 36 months, but ya know how some of those guys can be!
I've seen 1000 or even 1100 CA batts, but not 1000+ CCA batts for our trucks. I'm running the AutoZoo Golds as well, and they're doing fine. Been in 19 months now. Sorry, I know that does you no good up there, $Sheldon$..... LOL
I would put the Motorcrafts in again if I didn't get a good deal on the Duralast Golds (~$70 each) -- mine lasted the prescribed 5+ years.
Hey Sheldon, i'll ask a fella at work if i can see his consumer reports magazine, i was looking through it a month or so ago and it had battery, worst and best. If i remember correctly they said Walmart brands were ranked pretty high and for price and warranty. I'll get back to yaa soon. My Motorcrafts are still kicking(knock on wood) after 5 years now but i don't got the extreme cold as you do either, lol.
Im tempted to get one of ya americans to send me up a few batteries lol.
Mike that would be GREAT to hear what consumer reports says about it, even though I always take what they say with a grain of salt. I read that walmart has supposedly one of the best oils right now, so it wouldnt surprise me to hear that they have a good battery, just not sure if I would still use it or not.
61 uni, when i talked to the ford parts guy yesterday he told me stock replacements where 750 cca motorcrafts, but my truck had 850 cca batteries in it, as did most others that I know of up here.
I'm sure CAT wants outrageous prices for their batteries. CAT anything is MUCHO expensivo. I'd say that if you're getting batteries from the CAT dealer make sure you bring your vaseline and be very prepared to bend over.

I've read reports from battery manufactures that say that the heats kills batteries quicker than the cold.
Sheldon, I have the Interstate MTP 65 they are a 875 CCA, with a 30 month full replacement.. Although I have lost one at 24 months.. and so far everyone I have contacted has to order them..
Try a local auto electric shop. They might have a better quality battery at decent prices.
When I was in MT still we had a starter/alternator shop that sold batteries. I dont recall the brand (I can go look later), but they lasted in heavy equipment better than anything else we had found. I put a set in my pickup three years ago and have been very happy. They were competitive with all the major name brands at the time.
How many cca were the stock batteries. My truck has motercraft 750cca.
The dealer told me last week that he had 750 cca and 850 cca Motorcrafts, and that was all he offered in Group 65. So it was kind of a no-brainer, as they were both supposed to be the same quality grade, and had the same warranty (3-year non-pro-rated).
Really Jim? Now that i did not know, and if it came from anywhere else then these forums, I would probably try to prove that wrong!
In the cold its easy to run a battery down, and I always THOUGHT that the electron movement could get slowed down drastically from the cold, wearing it out faster. Then there is the whole freezing battery deal too haha.
Very interesting though, guess thats one good thing about living in the cold!

I would have to agree, at least on a cordless tool battery! I would think they would work the same!

I had one 18volt battery die on me after drilling thru studs running circuits in the barn. It got hot as crap and wouldnt hold a charge worth a dam after that!
EXACTLY- thats why the new cordless Makita's LXT have cooling fans in them...Cold is bad too, but not anywhere near as bad as heat. In fact, I'm listening to 3 of them charging right now...
Well that is very interesting indeed. I guess I knew with smaller batteries when ya heat em up they are toast, but never really made the switch over to vehicle batteries.
