Today I went on a search for new batteries. I swear, I couldnt find anything. I called ford and they had their stock 850 cca batteries, and wanted 160 bucks a piece for them. Ouch. So then I called an interstate guy. Same price, the largest he had was 850 cca (I was sure they had some 1000 cca ones not long ago).
So I check walmart, and they have energizer, and none in stock, plus I didnt think they were that high of quality. I go to canadian tire, and they have their home brand(motomaster eliminator), none in stock, best ones were 750 cca.
I call a local battery place and he trys selling me exide, and tells me they are just as good as anything else out there. 114 bucks a battery and 850 cca.
Napa had their biggest 880 cca battery for 112 bucks, but only a 2 year warranty (where as a motorcraft and interstate have 3 years)
So at the end of the day I said screw it, bought some 0-40 co-op synthetic oil, and decided to give my truck an oil change and hope the batteries last until next fall, I MAY not be so frustrated by then!!
I know the feeling.... I ended up with the Auto Zone Duralast Gold..O.E. group size: 65 *** 850 cold cranking Amps (1000 cranking Amps) *** -> 3 year free replacement uder 100.00 per Battery.... didnt want to wait till next year...
Well that would be one of the last places in the world I would want a battery for my truck made in!
Ill probably end up biting the bullet and letting ford bend me over a little bit.
I think I still have a little bit of that friction modifier from my rear end oil change, might have to use it on my own rear end to ease the pain!
You are hilarious Sheldon. Maybe if you make a trip to the States sometime in the near future buy some then. Seem to be way better priced here. Of course you are talking Canadian dollars so... J/K

I have used these batteries for the last couple of years and have had no problems at all.
We dont have autozones up here in the great white north, unfortunatly.
Never thought to try CAT though. Thought about trying the john deere dealer too yet. Also thought about trying to stuff a heavy duty commercial battery in each side. I would need about an additional inch and a quarter or so to get it to fit though.

The guys at the Cat parts counter should be able to cross ref a battery for you. IIRC, it was a wee bit more than the 850 CCA's as well. Bolted right up.
