Hey guys, wanted to ask for some input prior to purchasing a 1996 PSD
I am new to the 7.3, but am seasoned with the 6.0. I am looking at a 1996 F250 4x4 PSD with 155,000 on the ticker. Truck is in great shape and has been well maintined for its life. They want $6,000.00 which includes a meyers plow that is about a year old. 1st.. Is that a good price? Second how is the 7.3 for longevity and overall problems? I want this truck, but want to make sure I am not gonna regret it. This will not be a daily driver, but will see about 8-10k a year in miles. So what can I expect on longevity?? Any input would be fantastic, I am trying to seal a deal tommorow.
Any reccomendations of things I can look for visually prior to giving him the money? Also I forgot to mention it has a new tranny, front springs, shocks, and engine idle control module installed by ford. I want this truck, but this is my first high milage purchase. I usually buy brand new.
Check the valley of the engine for fuel or oil leaks. And pull the intake tubing and look at the turbo compressor. It should look straight and clean. No bent edges or a sand blasted look to it. It should look like or close to this
Is this truck red and located in ct? If so your forgetting to mention that it has a flatbed on it as well which adds value as well. Ive been eyeing myself
Oh wow thats amazing. Theres a red one for sale up here in ct with the exact same miles, new trans and front end, tires and for the exact same price. Only differences are the color and bed. Too wierd!
Well maintained, 155K it's just started to get broken in. There are forum members with 2-3-400,000 miles and still going strong. Don't let the miles scare you, that is not a high mileage truck. Good luck!
if your seasoned with the 6.0 you're going to be in for a treat. i just had a friend downgrade to a 6.0 and he is hating it . 7.3 has so much more power when you make it work. sounds like a good deal. maintence is everything, but sometimes things just need fixin'.
Truck is located in Mullica Hill NJ just a quick shot down RT 42 to RT55. From the ben franklin bridge it should take less then 1/2 hour to get to the guys house. If you could arrange a looksie I would be so grateful. Obviously I would cover any diesel expense for your travel. If this is possible for you let me know and I can set something up. When I look at the 7.3 I know jack. The 6.0 is so different is unreal.
