Ok guys I have a new prob with my truck, was out plowing the other day and truck stalled like it was out of gas, got it started, went to station and filled it but it only took 6 gallons.
(acting like it is trying to run on rear tank wich doesn't work)
wouldnt restart without priming carb.
Now it wants to stall going uphills or after running for a period of time (like plowing)
BTW 1987 F250 4X4 351 4BB
I have allready replaced the mechanical fuel pump, now im thinking the selector valve is s###ting the bed for good.
Any suggestions??????
fuel filter is clean, (clear fuel filter )when the truck stalls you cannot see any fuel in the filter, until after the carb is primed and the truck starts again.
Thanks for the info. will check the lines, but wouldnt i see leaking fuel somewhere? I do smell gas when this happens but dont see any leakage.
Kind of hard right now to check frame rails as it is all frozen snow/ice
Could it be an electrical problem?
Usually, for some reason, the lines won't leak, but will allow air to be sucked in. Odd but true. As for electrical, I guess you could check for voltage at the selector if it has connections.
ok, and there is an electrical connection at the selection valve, 6 wires I think that is why I asked if it could be electrical, shorting out causing it to switch to the rear tank,
Hasnt snowed in a couple of days now and havent had any problems, which is also why I asked if it could be elelctrical, not sure if the truck has internal low pressure pumps or not.(Havent had time to drop tanks to replace sending units yet)
As far as venting replaced both caps recently, and there is no pressure build-up when caps are removed for fueling, which leads me to believe that the system is venting properly.
