Thank you for posting this!! I searched for over an hour last night looking for this exact document and I couldn't find it. I found a thread with a link to another forum which was dead. You're a savior! Rep points to you.
I am not as well read as some of you fellas. So I know I could be wrong.
But my last truck (96' PSD) lasted 310,000 miles and needed no service other than routine maintenence.
And my current truck is the 06 PSD. I have 68,000 miles on it I have never had an issue of gelled fuel and my truck always starts and I park outside. It was -50F this morning and she started right up idled 5 minutes and I drove my wife to work.
I drop a bottle of FOMOCraft treatment in every time I fill the Transferflow tank.
Alot to be said for quality fuel treatment and good syntetic oil
I've been using 2-stroke TCW3 oil mixed 50/50 with Power Service at a 1oz to 1 gal ratio. I try to add this mix at every fill-up but more often I use it every other fill-up. Motor sounds smoother with less injector noise and responds well when driven, I'm happy.
Basically 2-stroke oil but it's ashless. Why does a 2-stroke motor need oil mixed in the fuel? Lubrication of the cylinder walls right? Since the injectors have fuel running throught them the TCW3 helps them run smooth and the ashless design prevents excessive carbon build up.
Check Wally's World, they sell it in a blue gallon container for like $10.
Again, it depends on where you live and what you want your additive to do for you. Are you using an additive to keep your fuel from gelling??? If so I think FOMOCO winter antigel is the best bang for your buck. -62'F at the airport in Fairbanks right now. My wife works down there. She drove her 7.3 down there as she always does. When she gets off work she will use the autostart and I trust it will fire right up like always.
If you just want to increase lubricity in your fuel....and you don't live in the COLD, I use 1 qt of 2 cycle oil at every fillup (98 gal Transfer Flow tank) BUT ONLY IN THE SUMMER.
But if you are wanting the Cetane boost I prefer Stanadyne performance
Ive been running powerservice, but today I picke up a bottle of Howe's and am gonna give it a try. Ive heard alot of good things aobut it and its less then $10 a quart but treats 250 gallons. Anyone have any input on the Howe's?
