Looking for comments/experiences with the Kirkland brand of tires from Costco. I'm looking at the 31x10.5x15 AT. Price is $110.00 installed (about US$70.00). The Costco tire salesman claimed they are made for Costco by BFG and that the only difference is the way the tread is cut. My mechanic warned me away from "cheap" tires saying the manufacturer (Goodrich) can't put the same quality in a tire that will sell for at least 40% less than their named brand. He says balancing will likely be problematic and that the tire will probably have weak sidewalls. Any comments on experience with Costco tires would be appreciated.

I have 2 `COSTCO` tires in the front 1972 F-250 9.50X16.5 `Uniroyal Brand`about 3 yrs old now.. They are fine and I have not had any trouble with the tires.
I have had then re balanced ONCE last year.
My Opinion.... I think that any tire should be rebalanced as time goes on. As the tire wears down, rubber comes of of the `Light side and the `Heavy side`. larger tires need to be maintained.. and Re Balanceing them is Critical. It is a necessary maintence item, like oil changing.

Costco Guarantees there tires!!
I would ask a `Tire Man` for an opinion and not a mechanic.
I think that Costco holds the line on Pricing better than others will admit to doing..
Costco charges me 7.00 to Mount and Balance a tire!! Others in my area WILL NOT come close!!
