Just saw a 69 Boss 429 Mustang go for 320,000$. Restored to better than new of course, followed by a Shelby GT 500KR (my favorite musclecar) for 195,000$. I would say something like "a fool and his $$$$$$ are soon parted", but hell, iif I had that kinda scratch, I'd be right there smoking a long green cigar too...
I've been watching it too. You do realize that it's last year's show, right? This year's starts Jan 13th as I recall. I'll bet values are way down this year, as they were in this show from the peak boom years. Some on this '08 show are going for half of what they would have sold for in years past. I still love the Boss 429s. No bling, just big power.
yeah, after I bought my stang for 320 G's to impress my wife, I decided to sell it out in the back parking lot for $100,000. It was worth it to impress her though. It was either that or I do as she wanted....buy a 100 foot yacht
CORRECTION: The Boss went for 325,000$.
Tom; it was a cool 74 deg. here today.
Truckdog; yeah, I know that was last years. That engine was what Ford built to battle the venerable 426 hemi in NASCAR. Rare as hens teeth today.
Havi, dream on snowman..
There was one couple who purchased four cars that I saw about a million those are some outrageous prices. I wouldn't pay that much to to watch & clean a vehicle. Did you see that Red 57 T-Bird it looked flawless.

I don't know... It seems that the guys that have that kind of money never seem to run out of it. Just keep in mind, even economically depressed times, there is still the same amount of wealth in the world, it's just in all the wrong places to benefit the little guys. It should be interesting to see how it goes on the 13th.
I get Hemmings Muscle Cars and in the most recent auctions, few of the cars are making reserves, even when lowered quite a bit. (This was back in Oct., before things really hit the skids) Their wisdom is that the Spring auctions could be a great time to snap up "bargains".

Scott,
I know you're lying, unless you're a 60+ year old man, which I know you're not, and have your 20 something granddaughter, or a girl who looks young enough to be your granddaughter, with $30K of jewelry hanging around your neck getting all exited every time you add another $10K the the $200K+ bid on a car that sold for $3K new. It's amazing how many guys take their granddaughters to the BJ auctions.

Later Man...
That's right Dave....That's because a lot of them are the crooks who are being paid millions of dollars to run our companies into the ground. So remember, when you see one of those cars selling for $450K, that $$$ had to come from somewhere. There are many people suffering from this economy, but there are a good number of very wealthy people - the ones who for the past number of years have made up their own rules - who are benefitting tremendously from this economic disaster. (disaster for the common people)

Hmmm... BJ auctions huh? That's an interesting parallel...
