Ford bolt Patterns

I have a 58 F100 project that has a fatman ultra low front end kit installed. In doing the swap, the front rotors are now the smaller ford bolt pattern and no longer fit the rear. I do not want to carry two spare tires and would like to find a rear with same width and botl pattern as the front.

I am going to install a flip kit with reverse mono leafs anyway so a car rear may be ok also.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I just saw the rear post. I guess I am off to find an explorer rear.

Thanks

I just got me a 8.8 Explorer rearend myself, make sure you know what ratio you need before you go because, they do come in a few different ratios.

1991-94 has drum brakes, 1995 and up has discs....so keep your braking system in mind too, they require different proportioning.

Well, it only took about three weeks for this topic to come around again.

We just finished some very informative discussion on this so if you use the search function on the top right of the main page, those (I believe there were actually two recent) posts will show up. There's lots of them, but I'll put the links for th erecent ones down below.

Basic suggestions were either to use wheel adaptors (which I have and am going to get rid of here pretty soon) or, do what I am moving toward: taking the hubs and drums (or rotors) and having a machine shop fill the old holes and redrilling them to the same bolt pattern as the back. Or vice versa.

Here are the links to those posts!!!

Good luck,

The simplest thing to do, particularly if you have a 9" already, is simply buy some new axles with your 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern. The drums center on the axle center and do not require precise drilling.

The smaller Ford is a 5 on 4.5"
Not 4.75

And....some 1980/83 F100's have a 4.50" bolt pattern, the only F100's that used this pattern.

All the other F100's (1953/1983) and F150's are 5.50" thru 1996.

I would definitely get the other axles/drums for your 9-inch. People trade their children for the Ford 9-inch rear and you (probably) already have one installed. The 9-inch is tough as nails, so common that replacement parts are plentiful and cheap, simple to remove axles, etc. Find some new axles and drums and start beating on it.
