If I remember correctly, you should have 230hp stock.. I believe that was it, it was something like 10 to 15 higher then mine, my brother in law let me know this every chance he got, bast#$d.. I got him though, I put a tuner in,, not the DP, yet...
How many HP's is a stock 7.3?
Whats the most Hp's anyone here has in a daily driver truck?
What can you get up to with just ad ons?
Stock HP on a late 7.3 is 250 HP. That is not at the wheels. More like 213 HP at the wheels on a stock 7.3. I may have a little over 400 RWHP with my mods.
Probably about 250hp or so depending. That is at the flywheel for a stock truck.
I make just about 400hp on mine, which I consider a daily driver, but doesn't get driven that often. I think about 500 is the limit for a well behaved daily driver that has forged rods. I have powdered metal rods (PMRs) which are said to be good for about 400hp. You have these rods too.
My stuff is just add ons, capable of much more but I had Jody tune it down due to my rods. You can get about 450 if you do it right with add ons minus big oil, studs, intercooler upgrade, Valve springs, pushrods etc.
No good scientific answer for that. Factory tolerances and all. I make about 34-35 with mine but it is better quality air than a smaller turbo making say 36. It would seem that since intercoolers and turbos can vary as can boost, so we end up looking at HP for what it can take. I would say that you can run about 450hp before needing studs, but probably not for long. The boost thing does not tell you exactly how much air is going in there which is determined by density/volume etc. I have heard that 40psi was the threshold for definitely needing studs. I don't think it is possible to make 40psi with a stock unit, van turbo, and probably not even with a GTP38R. That does not mean you cannot blow a head gasket.
Josh, you have an exception as in an 04 7.3. Enjoy that rascal. It was an emission thing here. Be careful what you do, take care of it, and it will provide years of solid service.
