The scanner your buddy used did not translate the code properly, since you don't have an IAC.
What was the exact code? They are a letter followed by 4 numbers. It would be something like P0122 if my hunch is correct, but there are many things that could have caused your symptoms. We can only take a WAG unless you get the code.
P0506 code ussually also will throw a second code. Like Backfire or somthin like that. P0506 is generally just low rpm's ??? translated threw the computer. did anything get sucked up threw your intake hose, maybe plugging your filter??
ill go check now....I looked at the air filter the other day and it was a little dirty but not anything that would trow a code...ill go check the intake hose right now....
There are no obstructions that I can find.....I disconnected the battery for 10 min to clear the computer. When I reconnected it the code is gone and it SEEMS to be running better. Ill see how it gotes tomorrow and post the results....THANKS!!

my 350 was doing the same thing , i cleaned the maf sensor and all is well you had it tore down to it take it out a clean it simple its worth a try ! it worked for me
I did what fountain, et al said, I took the mass air flow apart and douched it with MAF cleaner....including the sensor in the air flow tube and WOLAA....runs like a top.....throttle is very sensitive and feels like I added 30 hp....also, smooth idle at 750 ish rpm and no stalling.....
