When you open the door does your lights on the door panels come on? If not when I bought my truck used the previous owner put one of those big black relays in the #2 instead of the #1 if i remember correctly. So no dome light, door light and I think no chime came on either. Look at the manual for the right fuses in the right place and make sure everything is there.
What would it look like if it was shot? I'll go pull it in a few minutes when I warm up a bit.
You can swap it for another just like it but make sure you get it back in the right slot if it is bad. No interior lamps is better than a non running truck.
If you have a volt meter you can test it. There is a diagram on the relay with pin designations for coil and make contacts. A 9 volt battery will work for power source for bench top test.
The sensor is inside the door at the door latch. You would have to take the door panel off to get to it. Try opening the passenger door instead. If the light comes on, it would indicate that the sensor in the driver's door is bad. If the light still doesn't come on, move on to checking the light bulbs.
It was a balmy 30 degrees today so I got a chance to work on the truck. I opened up the dome light and the bulb appears to be good. I'll try replacing it, but I can't get to the dealership until Wednesday.
Any suggestions on what next?
Here's what I've found so far.
1: The bulb appears to be good
2: The fuse appears to be good
3: The courtesy lights come on
4: The cargo light does not come on
5: The dome light cannot be manually turned on via the dimmer switch
Pull the dome light housing out check the wiring, then if hooked up check for power with a test light. Maybe pull down the headliner a bit and reach up there see if you can feel the wiring and if its connected.
I think mind is onto something. The dome and cargo light share a harness.
I'm thinking of bringing the truck to a small, local shop. Their shop rate is cheap and if I ask them to keep the truck clean it will come back cleaner than when it left.

I wouldn't blame you. It's a PITA to trouble shoot electrical problems when you can't lay all the wiring out on the floor. Good Luck.
Do us a favor and post what the trouble turned out to be.
