I just went for a test drive and I was turning the wheel left and right to unload the bearings but the vibration didn't go away. Would a bad ball joint or u joint cause this problem? Also could the bearings possibly need to be greased as well?
Next I am going to jack each side up and see if there is any play in the 3 & 9 o'clock positions as I was told to do. How much play is acceptble if any?
I am trying to exhaust all of my options before I take it to the "stealership" (as one of the other members stated). Also how hard are they to change yourself if you have all of the tools to do so?
Well after doing some research on FTE all night last night I found that there is a possible recall on the hubs on my X. I have to call the company Federal-Mogul and see if my truck falls in the 130,000 units affected.
So hopefully it will be and I can get this fixed.
Okay, I jacked up each side and tested the wheel movement at the 3 & 9 o'clock positions but neither wheel had any play in it.
I am at a loss right now, any other suggestions would be helpful.
I also noticed that when I spun the wheel in either auto or locked that the front drive shaft spun with it as well. I thought it only spun when it is in the locked position, correct me if I am wrong. Thanks. Still kind of new to 4x4's.

Reason: want to add some info
Well I found out what the problem is. My left hub will not disengage so that is where the vibration has been coming from. I have to get a new kit to replace the o rings and clean and lube up the hubs. They probably are dirty from the desert and all and thinking about it I engaged the hub almost a week ago to move my trailer because the ground was soft from rain, and it has been stuck engaged since, hence the vibration.
I did find an article on how to take the auto hub apart and clean it out so I should be good to go now. Thanks for all your help.
