So the DMF let go on you? It would have been possible to get a SMF conversion with everything you need for around $600, but I guess thats still more than you wanted to pay. The other option would be to try and locate on at a wreaker, but theres no telling how long it would last.
This last option I'm not completely sure on, but I think you can actually rebuild them if the damage is not too bad. Usually the springs are what break, replace those and it should be good to go.
When the dualmass first came out thet were dealer at un real prices.
You can't even my thoughts when I pulled my first one (had never heard of them) but since after market ones have come out at half of the price it would pay to do a little shopping.
No harder than any sex change the dentside and bumpside forums both have several good threads on the installs. I did mine back in 85 it would have been supernice to have had fte and daves pictures and all the other info on here.
Your going to have to do some fab work Joe on the mounts on the crossmember I did not cut mine but it is a highboy 2x have different crossmembers you have to use fords small diameter brake booster or better yet use a hydraulic unit like daves I would definately change to disc. I also did not use a body lift but would have had to to use a ZF I'm getting the bug to rebuild mine and will be making some changes to my install one is body lift for sure going with a zf if money permits 6sp Hydraulic booster I still need a 79 D60 mine has the 44 and held up under very extreme circumstances just rather have the 60. will change my clutch setup too I used a 66 pickup master cylinder while it served the purpose it will be changed next go round.
