EBPS bracket

Hi all,
I bent my EBPS bracket trying to use an Easy-Out to extract the broken piece of EBPS. Now I need a new one. I ordered one from fomoco, but I noticed this rubber gasket stuff when I was taking it off. What is it? When I replace the bracket, can I just use high-temperature RTV gasket maker? Also, just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the port that this bracket was covering?

Yes, that's what I used. No leaks and no problems. I did the same thing when I cleaned mine last time but was able to straighten it.

same here...no issues. As for the port, I have no idea other than it is the front side of the High Pressure Oil pump resivoir. Looks like they could have found a better spot for the location of that bracket.
