Try NOT sending members away from one site when the answers can be had right here. Sorry but its not like some other site knows more nor do its members. This question applies to every Ford fullsize 4WD truck of this vintage.
Um, you may have answered your own question with your "added note". Considering that you said it "fixes itself" when you smack the dashboard you might try checking the connection and the condition of the switch in the dashboard. The Haynes service manual has fairly accurate wiring diagrams. I have always been able to accurately trace electrical system issues with them.
iv had everything apart more then once, everything looks fine i even replaced the speed sensor, and when it shifts hard sometimes the od light will give the code some times it wont, but the code is speed sensor falt
Did you use a new speed sensor or used. Do you have stock gearing and tires, a shift kit,
have you tried to disconect the battery for 15 mins or more? what all have you done do you have a aftermarket chip?.
I would try a new sensor, did this start befor or after the filter change. you might try changing your overdrive switch also if a smack to the dash makes it work. You can pm me the exact dillima and remidies youve taken so far and i might be able to help ya better. Jay
