Ok I guess the 2/10ths rule is what ford was following with the stock intake. It is about 2/10 smaller on the intake than it is on the head in width. The height in the intake and the height on the heads are close to identical. I can defineatly see why the stock intake could breath better. See I am learning finally. When I look up the runner it does not ever seem to widen as far as I would have to open the edelbrock. So it would seem to be restricted all along its path. The only thing I can even think of that this may help would be to increase the speed of the flow. But of course there is only so much flow it can pull in per stroke. I hope i can return this one and get a better one. Who knew....not me apparently
Well with the intake port being about a 1/4" smaller than the head port..at least you wont get any Air reversion..you can always go from a smaller port to a bigger port ...Just not the other way around..At least since everything else seems to match up your lucky...I have seen alot worse...and at the very least if you use the Edbock intake , you have lost all that weight..over the stock intake.. But for what your trying to accomplish with the 360, unless your fimiliar with an air grinder? your could match that one small side on the intake to match you head port? Or just bolt it on and go..as I personally dont think your going to see any seat of the pants improvement unless you took the narrow port all the way back or at least 2"s back up the runner.. Who knows ? It might give you a little more bottom end? JMO
In the end here I have decided to bolt the performer on. I could not return it. I have decided not to try to port it, so I can sell it later as an unmolested intake. I have the dizzy in getting a recurve done. Once that is back we'll see how it runs. I thank you one and all for your input.

We took the old girl out for a test run today. I did not have the kickdown setup correctly so it moved like a slug. I got her fixed up and away we went again. Holy Moly what a difference. That truck moves in a hurry. It basically smoked the tires for the first 50 ft or so and then it started to move. I have to set the carb yet as we just pulled it off his car and stuffed it on the truck. The sh$t eating grin on my sons face might be gone by tomorrow but he was sure happy tonight. Once the carb is set i will have to see what kind of mileage and performance we get. thanks one and all for your opinions and help.
