Ultimate tie rod replacement

Just thought I would pass on this setup of replacing the weak, low slung, tie rods and drag links we have on our SD's.

Genuine Bullet Proof Steering Systems, Track Bar Kits, Pitman & Steering Arms

The site isn't the best designed for navigating but if you take the time to read through, you'll realize this system is by far the best steering replacement out there. I will be ordering a set in the new year and will do a review when installed.

I wouldn't mind having the bar connecting the pitman arm and steering knuckle near parallel. It should tighten the steering up a bit and make more use of the power from the power steering system. Not a bad price either, $385 for the basic system plus over the knuckle. Stock replacement parts aren't much less.

Thats what I was thinking... why replace with stock when you could put this bad boy on and never have to worry about it again.

The heim joints will fail with time, it's not going to last forever. However, they will hold up extremely well and offer some flexibility.

old thread brought back...

I recently picked up a 2003 V10 excursion Limited (high miles but got for a steal). One of my tie rod ends def needs to be replaced, but whenever possible i like to replace stuff with something better than was originally there.

Anyone have reviews of the above listed parts or suggestions on other replacement parts? Thinking about changing ball joints out also if anyone has recommendations (hear they are prone to failure).

Thanks everyone

I recently replaced ball joints with XRF. Good reviews on them and they are doing well. Ordered cheapest off eBay.

You might want to check out Dana trac web site also.

I'm digging up old tie rod threads to see if anyone actually tried these guys, seems like Moog, XRF and local parts store tie rods and tie ends only last a couple years with hard use.

Anyone try Bulletproof Steering?

I used them on my '72 Bronco, absolutely best upgrade ever. Knuckle over, the heim joints were beefy and held up awesome.

Because you probably won't have the truck that long.

Since the Excursion is the last of a breed, for those that need or fancy themselves in this type of vehicle long term quality investments make sense.

But things pop up and people sell or a lot can happen to a vehicle. That's why you don't see tons of 70's cars running around.

I rebuilt my entire front end with XRF parts. Ball joints, tie rods and ends, and draglink. Has held up great and carries a million mile warranty.

Canadiansmokie hasn't posted in a little over a year but I believe that his EX is Line-Xed, there has been some conversations about that particular way to ruin, oops, I mean mod an EX here lately.
