Where have you guys put you amps and subs? I dont want any leg room or floor space that would normally be for my feet wasted. I have the extended cab, but I dont think there is enough space behind the seat for anything.

This is why I don't have subs anymore. I put my speaker amp under the driver's seat and ran the wiring along the rocker panel under the trim.
I took the middle seat out of my 94 F150 for the 12 inch sub. It pounded.
I've seen people take out their middle seat to put a box and amp in. they also make low profile subs that can fit beneath your rear seat. I own a f150 screw right now my system is sitting on the back seats that are folded down, sort of wasting passenger room going from seating 6 comfortably to 3 smashed in there.
If you are willing to sacrifice your back seat that's where I'd put them but I'd start with the head unit and speakers which definitely won't sacrifice leg room.
Casey, I've got a 98 F-150 Xcab. I've got a pinoeer deck that I can control my subs with. It's a DEH 3800 I believe. My front components are factory-fit pioneer 150 watt. 4x7 if I remember right. For my subs, that was easy. I got a box from HiFIaudioonline via ebay. they have 10 and 12" setups. W/the 12, you will HAVE to go shallow mount to get the thump. The box comes with wooden blocks to raise the seat. This is needed both for the box to fit and for the excursion height. Me, I'm running 2 10" RF stage 1's pusehd by an infinity 75 rms x4. And they are loud. The cab of the truck acts as a second enclosure. Outside the truck it's not so bad, you won't wake the neighbors coming home but it's too loud for me. My recommendation, if you have a xcab, is to get the box, choose your subs... then throw it under the back seat. And for the love of peace PLEASE get a decent head unit. stock speakers aren't bad.. really... quality is in the bass for what most of us do. Just some facts from the box, it's slightly shorter than the distance between teh seat rails, but about flush with the outside edge of the seat. And it gives those in the backseat and nice massage Good luck and IM me if you have any questions

I put some Pioneer 6x9's in the doors of my old F150 after the stockers blew. I also had a Pioneer Premier series 12" sub with a Profile 700W amp behind the seat. Sounded great for what I listened to
I know this thread is pretty old, but I've been wanting to do something for better sound in my truck. I've got a Sony aftermarket MP3/CD player in the dash, and have replaced all the speakers with Pioneer ones, whatever size was factory. My main question is this: I always have my rear seat folded flat, and I have to have the space above it open so I can load stuff in and out. The only side I could maybe leave up is the drivers' side seat (since it's so small), is there anything I can do with a sub/amp combo with such limited room in the rear? At least once a week I fill the back seat area with office supplies, that's why my rear seats are always laid down.
I made this box for a Rockford Fosgate 10" sub fits on the floor behind the driver, this is in my extended cab. The rear seat remains down, the back of the box fits under the seat. I put the Pioneer 200 watt amp under the drivers seat, running the stock head and speakers.
