f-550 6.0 diesel, steel rear mount tank, cloging filters.. found maybe rust or maybe fine paint like power on filters,it clogs filters and shut tuck off,any way too clean material out of tank???
If tank is steel and indeed has rust inside then it can be sandblasted and recoated, however you'll need a specialized shop for that. Alternatively you can have a race shop build you a so-called fuel cell, these are often aluminum so they will not rust on you.
I looked and could not find any source of aftermarket fuel tanks for your truck, even RockAuto don't seem to have them. But, a company called Team Ford Parts from Las Vegas shows two fuel tank setups:
a) single fuel tank (rear tank?) - 137", 142", 156", 158", and 172" wheel base for $412 (MSRP $554); and 141", 162", 165", 176", 186", 200", and 201" wheel base for $391 (MSRP $525).
b) dual fual tanks (midship tank?) - 141", 162", 165", 176", 186", 200", and 201" wheel base for $588 (MSRP $790)
Call them up, 1-800-791-6436, or e-mail at parts@teamford.com, they sell OEM parts by the way, not aftermarket stuff with questionable quality.
